About Cedar-Isles-Dean
The Cedar-Isles-Dean neighborhood of Minneapolis is a charming and affluent community nestled along the shores of Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun). Bounded on the northeast by Lake of the Isles and on the northwest by Cedar Lake, all three of these bodies of water are part of the city’s famous Chain of Lakes.
Its history traces back to the early 20th century when it was developed as a residential area with picturesque views of the surrounding lakes. Over the years, the neighborhood has evolved into a highly desirable place to live, characterized by its mix of historic homes, upscale luxury apartment communities, and excellent selection of dining and shopping options.
The Cedar-Isles-Dean neighborhood continues to occupy a coveted location in Minneapolis. Due to it’s proximity to these bodies of water, residents in the area are afforded with abundant opportunities for outdoor activities such as jogging, walking and biking around the lake trails, as well as on-the-water activities such as boating, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and many others.
Additionally, the neighborhood is well-connected to the rest of the city. Lake Street, which connects to Uptown via Hennepin Avenue to the east, and to Saint Louis Park via Minnetonka Blvd to the west, is the only main thoroughfare between the this section of the Chain of Lakes, making it a convenient and well-traveled route for commuting workers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
